Last weekend was Melksham v Fleet, with a stunning come-back in injury time for the home team to win 2-1. Tomorrow there is a dearth of local football, with Frome v Tiverton and Bradford Town v Bridgwater being the 'highlights'. Any reasons we have a 3 week break just now? In a week's time there is forecast to be a whiteout (according to the Daily Express) which will mean 2 weeks of further inaction and the usual end of season mayhem.
For me it was Yeovil v Northampton on Dec 22nd, followed by a cheeky double on Boxing Day. Walton Casuals at midday, then Chesham Utd at 3pm. Last Saturday, it was Dorchester v Wimborne & tomorrow tiz Bath v Chippenham. Why the Wilts League shuts down over Crimble is beyond me! Many clubs will get their best gates of the season at this time of year, so if #UTB had been at home on the bank holiday, they may well have doubled their average gate. I seem to recall being at Frome Road back around 82 on a bank hol v Bath, when nearly two thousand were present. The problem with Winter breaks, is you never know when the white stuff will turn up. Last year it was March so you can’t book Crimble off & expect the snowman to come early.
